Scope and Content
Leaflets produced by, or for, the Harris Tweed Association (1909-1993) and the Harris Tweed Authority (1993-present). Some explain the production process of the cloth, while others emphasise the luxury of the finished clothing. The majority of them are A4 size, some with extensive text, and two which include tweed samples. Several are specifically aimed at the American market. A number of them are trilingual - English, French, and German - while one also includes Japanese as a fourth language. There are several wholly Japanese leaflets, one wholly German, and one wholly Dutch. Many are produced by a company called 'Textile Forecast'.
None carry specific dates, but most date from the 1980s and early 1990s (pre-Harris Tweed Authority). Precise years could be found by matching the leaflets with mentions of specific campaigns in the Board of Directors minutes. The leaflets are roughly organised into similar types of leaflet within the folder.
