Other Finding Aids
A descriptive list of these volumes is available in Glasgow City Archives. The following detailed lists are available: The Glasgow protocol books before 1600 were printed in abstract, R Renwick (ed.), Abstracts of Protocols of Town Clerks of Glasgow (Glasgow, 1894-1900), but Michael Fleming, whose protocol book is the earliest abstracted by Renwick and covers 1530-1537, was not a town clerk and the original of his book is in the National Archives. For the seventeenth century there are no modern finding aids, but many of the books have tables of contents with page numbers and the names of persons seised. For much of the burgh register the only contemporary finding aids are the minute books of sasines, which are not themselves indexed. For 1713-1747, 1751-1807, there is a modern computer index to the minute books of sasines (persons and places, in progress). For 1917-1927 indexed, printed abridgements are available.
