Scope and Content
This file contains materials produced during the investigations into the murder of Isabella Ruxton and Mary Rogerson by Dr Buck Ruxton in Lancaster, England. Their bodies were recovered in Moffat, Scotland on the 29th September 1935 and investigations were carried out by the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh. The file consists of notebooks, correspondence, anatomical reports, witness reports, extracts from Ruxton's diary, copies of statements, laboratory reports, photographs, photomicrographs, radiographs, glass negatives, and press cuttings. Dr Ruxton's trial began at Manchester on 2nd March 1936. On 13th March 1936 a verdict of guilty was returned and Dr Ruxton was sentenced to death.
