The Scottish Northern Investment Trust Ltd was incorporated on 4 February 1908. Shortly afterwards a second company, The Second Nothern Investment Trust Ltd was also incorporated and then, in the 1920s, a third, The Third Northern Investment Trust Ltd. All three companies amalgamted under the name The Scottish Northern Investment Trust Ltd in 1968.
