Administrative / Biographical History
The Academy’s members have through the years been involved in a miriad of interests and activities. Some of these have been of a social as much as an artistic nature, and some of the papers connected with some of these Clubs have been gifted to the Academy often with provenance by descent through the Members’ family. For example, the collection includes papers from the the Smasher’s Club, which was was founded in Edinburgh in 1848 by a group of students attending Robert Scott Lauder’s classes at the Trustees’ Academy.
