The material is composed of: letter written on House of Commons paper offering 'two places for the Ladies' Gallery' and with the information that the 'House now usually sits on Tuesday from 2 to 7 and from 9'; and, letter writing about 'illness' and mentioning a 'petition' which is to be presented in London.
Administrative / Biographical History
James Frederick Dudley Crichton-Stuart was born on 17 February 1824. He was the grandson of John (1744-1814) 4th Earl of Bute and 1st Marquess of Bute, and son of Patrick James Herbert Crichton-Stuart MP (1794-1859). He was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Grenadier Guards and was himself an MP, for Cardiff, 1857-1880. He became Lord-Lieutenant for Buteshire. James Frederick Dudley Crichton-Stuart died on 24 October 1891.
