Foreman baker dismissed for slander & plot against Society 1874. Cases of tampering with pass books 1874 became police matter & led to expulsions. Employees dismissed for frequenting pubs. Salesman dismissed for having intoxicating liquor on premises 1877. Amalgamation with Cockenzie Society 1876. Sale of fishing sand boat materials at near cost price 1877. Paddy the black horse became lame - sold 1878. Too many employees 1879 considering \present dullness of trade\". Act to tax Cooperative Societies 1880 - agreed to pay but petitiion for repeal."
