Administrative / Biographical History
Meridian Airmaps Limited was an aerial survey company based in Shoreham, UK, which undertook commercial aerial survey contracts from 1952 to 1989. Payment for survey work in one African country was so late in being settled that it created debts that made it impossible for the company to continue and it went into liquidation in 1989.

Custodial History
Imagery commissioned by the Scottish Office was held from creation by the Scottish Office. Within the Scottish Office it was held by the Air Photographs Unit within the Scottish Development Department and transferred to RCAHMS in 1993. Imagery flown for private commercial contracts was retained by the company until liquidation when its film assets were acquired by English Heritage. Films covering locations in Scotland were subsequently transferred to RCAHMS.
