Scope and Content
The first volume records the meeting at which the petition of seven householders was presented to the Sheriff of Renfrewshire to make Kinning Park a burgh as defined in the General Police and Improvements (Scotland) Act 1862. Thereafter they met as the Commissioners of the Burgh and discussed cleansing; lighting; the interim working of the Public Health Act; permissions to build; paving and maintaining streets; fire brigade; elections; tramways; legislation etc. Bonds taken out by the Burgh are also copied into the volumes. There is a gap in the minutes from 1875 - 1879.
The first eight volumes are of fair copy manuscript minutes of meetings of the Commissioners in partially indexed volumes. The next five volumes are of printed minutes of meetings of both the Town Council and Committees. These overlap the last two manuscript volumes. The last three volumes are non-consecutive and are of draft minutes.
