Minutes of Crosshill Burgh Police Commissioners
- Reference:GB 243 H-CRO1
- Dates of Creation:1871 - 1891
- Language of Material:English
- Physical Description:3 volumes
Scope and Content
The first meeting was held in response to a petition from householders to the Sheriff of Renfrewshire to carry into effect the provisions of the General Police & Improvement (Scotland) Act 1862. The subjects the Commissioners dealt with included: lighting; street repairs; cleansing; appeals against the assessment; parliamentary bills; registrar's reports on births, marriages and deaths; and water supply and discussions with Glasgow. They do not appear to have had a watching force, as is evidenced by the committee election results at 13 October 1873, presumably as they were covered by the Renfrewshire Constabulary (correspondence at H-CRO13).
