Scope and Content
These papers were amongst the unsorted General Papers with the reference H-PAR41 in the original catalogue. A volunteer sorted through the papers in 1993 and did a box list (a copy of his list is included at H-PAR1/21/60). When he received the boxes the material was arranged roughly chronologically but the original order between bundles is not known. (Some of the references the volunteer used have been included as previous numbers to indicate the original box in which they were found.) Some bundles were obviously committee reports, and other papers folded in a similar way or with a committee abbreviation on them were included here. However, items that the Burgh did not consider to be committee papers may also be included and items that should be included may be in another sections (see below). There are sometimes more than one bundle per year depending on content and original arrangement. The descriptions are indicative only and are by no means exhaustive.
Some letters have the abbreviation 'BP' on the front (possibly Burgh of Partick?) and these may be part of the incoming correspondence series at H-PAR2/4.
Because of the history of the arrangement, papers relating to the same subject could be in more than one bundle. The correspondence at H-PAR2/4 and legal papers at H-PAR4/3-4 will also contain similar items. The papers of the Parliamentary Bills Committee are at H-PAR1/22.
