Scope and Content
Papers relating to research into teenage gangs. Includes field notes and typed copy report of a survey of Wapping carried out by students at the London School of Economics and titled "Youth in a Dockland Community". John Spencer acted as advisor on the project which aimed to determine whether there were any demonstrable causes of club attachment and whether thers was any relationship between such attachment and delinquency. Also includes papers relating to the Boys Barge Club; proposal to do research into gangs; report of Borough of Finsbury Youth Committee's sub-committee on "Gangsterism"; handwritten draft of Spencer's paper "The Unclubbable Adolescent".
