Census – Ragman Roll
The collection of documents known as the Ragman Roll or ‘list of names of magnates and others of Scotland who did homage to Edward I’ in 1296 is held by The National Archives in London (references C47/23/3 and E39/4/10). These list the names of the Scots magnates, burgesses and senior churchmen who promised (or were compelled to promise) fealty to Edward I of England in 1296.
