Scope and Content
Register of children's deaths compiled from Registrar General's figures. Causes of death (with slight variations over time): congenital debility; prematurity; malformation; diarrhoea (less than 2 years); principal epidemic diseases; tuberculosis; violence; respiratory diseases; malignant neoplasms; and coronary thrombosis 1952-1972. A folder is inserted in the volume titled 'MWK [Miss Knox, Public Health Department Librarian] - a) Influenza b) Respiratory Disease in Infants c) Fog and bronchitis etc' with statistical information from 1918 to 1963. Also included is a card with Hollerith [punch card] codes for ages also annotated 'copy for Miss Knox'.
