Scope and Content
According to the accounts the Hospital received funding at different times from the Counties of Renfrew and Lanark and the Burgh of Kinning Park as well as the Burgh of Govan. Although some of the records pre-date the abolition of Parochial Boards in 1894 they are largely unchanged except for funding.
The Govan Poorhouse came under the administration of the Public Assistance Department in 1923. The hospital was run by the Public Health Department from 1936. See also D-HEW/5/4 for accounts of the Govan Combination Parish.
