According to the 1883 report, Barony Parish bounded 'the City of Glasgow on the north, from the River Clyde in the east, till it reaches the Burgh of Maryhill in the west, and extends northward and eastward till it forms a junctions with the Parishes of Cadder and Old Monkland'. It included the districts of Tollcross; Shettleston; Millerston; Hogganfield; Riddrie; Provanmill; Springburn; Germiston; Colston; Possil and Lambhill.'
